Mr Sheridan leaves a rich legacy, having brought a wealth of knowledge and experience of the further and higher education sector to the board and overseen a transformation in the college’s performance.

Through his strategic leadership, UHI Inverness has consistently exceeded performance targets and received recognition from external bodies, including overwhelmingly positive feedback following a recent Education Scotland review.

Professor Chris O’Neil, Principal and Chief Executive of UHI Inverness, said: “UHI Inverness is seen as one of the highest-performing colleges in Scotland and Mark has presided over this success. On behalf of the staff and students at UHI Inverness, I wish to convey my sincere thanks to Mark for all his hard work and commitment to serving the board, staff and students over the last three years. Mark has demonstrated a strong commitment to forge new collaborations and drive our strategic vision and ambitions forward. We wish Mark all the best for the future.”

Recruitment to appoint a new chair will commence shortly.
