Rab Boyd

Rab is a Sport & Outdoor lecturer on the level 4/5 courses ran by the Sports Department. Rab’s main course is Preparation for Uniformed, Emergency Services & Sport, due to his previous 22 years exemplary military service and instructor qualifications acquired as a Warrant Officer Class 2 in the British Army.

Rab has a good mix of indoor and outdoor experience delivering resistance & circuit training, cardiovascular training, hill walking, orienteering & mountain biking.

Rab has always had a passion for fitness, representing in the Army Championships in cross county, athletics and swimming. Recently he has been in the winning team for the Baxter’s 10km corporate challenge for the last 3 years. He also facilitates boot camp circuits for employees of the college and organises a lot of activities for staff like mountain biking the Great Glen Way & hill walking the Lairig Ghru.

Rab has a fellowship of the Scottish Enterprise Educators Programme and applies this to a creative curriculum. Rab has three main training objectives that he uses to promote and maintain the desire to learn, Fitness, Confidence and Knowledge. Rab is also a reviewer for the college professional discussion on learning and teaching and has just recently been appointed to be a Scottish Qualification Authority external verifier.
