Lauren Robinson
Artist statement:
"This piece is referring to the limits of free speech in Russia, as well as other countries, with some people having warrants for their arrest or death for speaking badly of the Russian government. It’s a simple but bold phrase, which I feel directly tells the observer that all hopes of free speech (and freedom in general) are crushed by an overbearing government, and by the cruelty of people, referring to objectification. The repetition of the piece’s phrase is the fear constantly drilled into people’s minds, as it loops over and over again. I also feel it shows that nothing will change, as one body symbolising the pain of women and sexuality is destroyed, another evil rises from it. Its always one issue after the other, accompanied by the fear of being caught rebelling against it."
