ESOL Lecturer

I have been teaching English as a Second Language (ESOL) and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) for thirty-six years in various countries including Scotland, France and the Middle East.  I returned to live in Scotland in 1998 to teach business and banking English in a private language school on the Black Isle.   I went on to work for the WEA, a charitable organisation delivering ESOL classes throughout the Highlands as well as delivering tutor training courses and developing online ESOL teaching material.

In 2006 I joined the ESOL team at North Highland College UHI in Dornoch where I carried out the post of ESOL coordinator, then in 2014 I began teaching at UHI Inverness.

Working with non-native English speakers is an excellent way to learn about different cultures and customs, meet amazing people from all over the world as well as helping students to progress in their career or further study.

In my free time I enjoy kayaking, foraging and beach-combing with my spaniel Finn and skiing (without the dog!)
