- Supporting Children and Young People with Additional Support Needs
This is designed to enable learners to gain knowledge and understanding of additional support needs of children and young people and how to meet those needs in practice in relation to current legislation and policy. The unit will also enable learners to explore agencies and professionals engaged in offering support to children and young people with additional support needs and their families.
- Thinking and Writing for Study, Work and Life
This module, about writing logically and persuasively, has been designed to provide a foundation in academic writing skills that is underpinned by the teaching of philosophy.
This course introduces both academic writing and philosophy at a level suitable for students beginning their Higher Education journey. It allows learners to develop their knowledge and understanding of the logical construction of an argument and the persuasive force of rhetoric. The aim of the module is to strengthen students’ academic writing skills and to introduce them to some basic principles of philosophy.
These skills are useful for teachers and are also skills that teachers will want to develop in their learners.
