European meeting on changing forest ownership (FACESMAP)
In April, Inverness College UHI hosted forest researchers from over 20 countries gathered at the new campus to discuss issues surrounding European forest ownership and emerging challenges. This included gaining insights into the pattern of forest ownership in Scotland through presentations from local professionals, researchers and land managers. Visits to Trees for Life Dundreggan estate (native woodland restoration) and Foulis farm (diversified farming through renewables) exposed them to two different forest owners and management considerations. A meal and traditional Scottish music event was hosted in the evening by catering students and staff in the Corrie restaurant, which ended a packed dance floor.
