I completed my BSc in Zoology at the University of Aberdeen in 2023. Here, my dissertation project focused on applying the PER assay to condition honeybees to detect the allergen sesame for further medical use. Upon graduating, I found work in a commercial aquaculture lab where I further developed my lab skills. This allowed me to become acquainted with PCR and Histology techniques. My time there consisted of a variety of commercial and project-based work with fisheries around Scotland to inform management styles and practices.

  • BSc: Conditioning honeybees (Apis mellifera) to detect the allergen sesame using the PER assay 2023

Research interests:

  • Applying molecular tools to conservation issues
  • Animal welfare
  • Molecular ecology

Research project highlights:

  • AS3IG: Atlantic salmon stock assessment - integrating genetics
  • Freshwater eDNA: Monitoring change in freshwater biological communities
  • BactMetBar. Environmental DNA metabarcoding as an alternative to macrobenthic assessments in fish-farm compliance assessment.
