Dr Navarro Waggershauser presented the results of our first study on soil biodiversity analysis - specifically on the effects of introducing carrion on microbial communities below ground. IBFC has tested and implemented new laboratories and protocols at our facilities, expanding our analytical capabilities and our ability to study a wide range of terrestrial ecosystems, including woodlands and peatlands.

The conference provided an excellent platform for strengthening connections with Nordic researchers. Key discussions revolved around novel approaches for analysing and integrating biodiversity data, and the challenges of scaling biodiversity monitoring across vast landscapes - areas closely aligned with the work at IBFC.

Cristian will present the final 2024-25 Institute for Biodiversity and Freshwater Conservation (IBFC) seminar on the 15th of May  2025.
