Series Editors – Philomena de Lima, UHI Inverness and Belinda Leach, University of Guelph
The ‘Rethinking Rural’ series foregrounds place and specifically rural places and communities as dynamic, diverse, and mutually constitutive. The Series emphasises rural places as embodying plural visions, voices and experiences which are intrinsic to making sense of places – rural and urban – as lived sites of solidarity, contestation, and disruption. Place is not a backdrop to daily encounters, but a deep and meaningful aspect of everyday living. The Series takes ‘rural’ to be a contested construct rather than fixed through metrics such as population density, proximity to urban centres, proportion, or agricultural activity, etc.
