Vicky Kirkland, MSc Human Resource Management
Graduate Vicky Kirkland (61) from Aberfeldy found studying at UHI Inverness to be a joy.
Vicky felt ‘bereft’ when her MSc Human Resource Management finished but her dedication to her studies paid off when she received a Student of the Year prize from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development earlier this year.
A co-owner and founding director of a recruitment agency, KBM Resourcing Ltd, Vicky had previously studied a MSc Leadership and Management at UHI Inverness in 2019.
Her second stint studying with UHI Inverness did not disappoint.
“The lectures were a joy, each tutor brought their own style, and every module was engaging and collaborative,” she said. “It was all highly accessible and collaborative. Peer-to-peer discussions were commonplace as was the ability to ask questions as required. All the tutors were very encouraging and helpful, particularly around assignments. My lecturer David Jack was excellent in support, particularly throughout the dissertation process.”
Vicky, who graduated on Friday, has since studied mediation at the University of St Andrews, joined Scottish Mediation and is now a Chartered Member of the CIPD.
“I plan to continue to volunteer and support SMEs with their human resources management and mediation requirements,” she said.
