Pass rates for students studying further education courses at Inverness College UHI amongst best in country
SUCCESS rates for students studying further education courses at Inverness College UHI are now amongst the best in the country.
Inverness College UHI is ranked 3rd highest of all ‘large’ colleges in Scotland in terms of success rates for both full-time and part-time courses and is the only one to see a year-on-year improvement over the last 5 years.
The performance indicators for the further education sector were published by the Scottish Funding Council this week.
Across Scotland, the pass rate for full-time further education courses has increased slightly and now stands at 66.1 per cent. At Inverness College UHI, the full-time success rate stands at 70.6 per cent – almost 5 percentage points above the national average. The part-time further education success rate at Inverness College UHI stands at 86.3 per cent – nearly 9 percentage points above the national average.
Roddy Henry, depute principal of Inverness College UHI, said: “This is a great achievement and is testament to the work and commitment of our students and staff. At Inverness College UHI we aim to ensure our courses are aligned to employment opportunities and that we deliver a student-centred experience, providing the support each student needs to succeed and move on to a positive next step. We continually review the whole student journey – from that initial enquiry about a course through to the application process, induction and the overall learning and teaching experience. The success rates published this week show that this focus on every aspect of our work is helping our students to succeed.”
Regionally, the University of the Highlands and Islands partnership is also performing well, averaging a 70.3 per cent success rate.
The further education curriculum at Inverness College UHI covers 15 subject areas and a range of qualifications, including Modern Apprenticeships and National Qualifications. The further education curriculum enables access to Higher National and Degree qualifications at Inverness College UHI and progression to employment.
