Scottish School of Forestry welcomes Artist in Residence
THE Scottish School of Forestry, part of Inverness College UHI, has welcomed its own Artist in Residence.
Deborah Ilett, a 3rd year BA (Hons) Contemporary Art and Contextualised Practice student at Inverness College UHI, has taken up the temporary position as part of her course.
Deborah will be based at the Scottish School of Forestry, Monday to Wednesday, for the next two months.
She’ll be accompanying classes on trips and visits while observing field work and exploring the natural environment to capture the student experience at the school through the mediums of photography, drawing and sculpture.
Deborah said: “I’m looking forward to working with the Scottish School of Forestry and interpreting what I find and observe to produce interesting pieces of art. It’s important to produce public art that involves the interaction of the artist, participant and observer, creating pieces that challenge common perceptions.”
Students studying Contemporary Art and Contextualised Practice are required to undertake a work placement as part of the course and collaborate with different sectors.
Deborah’s work will be displayed at the Scottish School of Forestry Open Days on 11th and 12th May.
