Inverness College UHI goes gold!
Inverness College UHI has achieved Investors in People (IIP) Gold status.
Christmas has come early for staff at Inverness College UHI who learned this week that their efforts to go straight for ‘gold’ Investors in People (IIP) status have paid off.
Driven by its aspiration to support further organisational development through the Investors in People gold standard framework, the College received the top award from IIP officials on Monday (12 December) after two weeks of assessments and interviews. It celebrated the occasion by lighting its campus in gold and gathering everyone together for a special all-staff photo.
The IIP standard recognises the valuable contribution that people make to a workforce and acknowledges organisations that develop strategies to improve their performance through their people.
As well as being the first institution within the University of the Highlands and Islands partnership to achieve the award, the College now joins an elite band of organisations, with just 15% per cent of IIP accredited employers in the UK reaching the gold standard.
Diane Rawlinson, principal and chief executive at Inverness College UHI, said: “Our people are Inverness College UHI’s greatest asset. This prestigious award is described by IIP as an achievement of ‘world class best practice’ and means we are considered to have the highest standards of people management and development that support the achievement of our goals.
“Achieving Gold is recognition of the commitment and passion of our staff and testament to the fact that everyone is fully engaged in delivering our vision. This is an incredible achievement which we can all be very proud of – what a fantastic way to round off 2016!”
“Peter Russian, chief executive at Investors in People Scotland, added: “This is a fantastic achievement, which is testament to Inverness College UHI’s excellent people management practices. I hope more organisations in the area are inspired by Inverness College UHI, and begin to work with Investors in People Scotland to drive their organisation forward.”
In addition to its IIP success, the College has also been successfully reassessed against the Customer Service Excellence Standard for its second year, recognising its goal to put students and stakeholders at the heart of all services.
