What is special about this course?
Construction technicians are responsible for the design and implementation of a wide range of construction projects. From consultation, advisory to contractor based work in sectors such as building industrial, commercial and domestic structures, energy, infrastructure and landmark projects such as Inverness Campus.
This course is ideal for Modern Apprentices working as Architectural Technicians, Construction Managers or Quantity Surveyors.
You will study HNC Built Environment, an SQA qualification accredited by Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). The course provides the essential common knowledge of all Built Environment professionals. You will also complete the SVQ Construction Contracting Operations: Site Technical Support; Construction Contracting Operations: Estimating; or Building Environment Design, dependent on your profession.
Entry requirements
Entry requirements for this modern apprenticeship are:-
- National Certificate in Built Environment, or
- Foundation Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering, or
- National Certificate in Civil Engineering, or
- One Higher, or
- Previous construction/trade craft experience.
Apprentices are required to attend college for 3 blocks of 3 weeks, five days per week, undertaking 6 units per year. The award is completed over 2 academic years.
