Hospitality Services (Modern Apprenticeship) SCQF Level 5
What is special about this course?
Hospitality sector apprenticeships provide opportunities to enhance employees' technical skills and underpinning knowledge.
The programme is a combination of work-based and college training and provides the dual benefit of students gaining a nationally recognised qualification while being paid as they work.
It is expected that apprentices following this framework will take between 12 to 24 months to complete, including some days off-the-job training for completion of any mandatory enhancements. The competency-based component (the SVQ) does not require any off-the-job training and this is down to the discretion of the employer and relevant to the amount of practice in terms of skills and knowledge that an individual learner may require.
Entry requirements
Applicants should be in full time employment with employer’s support to undertake the course. A good understanding of the hospitality sector would be an advantage. Candidates undertaking these qualifications should be in positions which relate to the course to enable them to provide work-related evidence.
This qualification covers areas such as workplace health and safety; standards of behaviour in hospitality; and team working.
This qualification has a wide range of optional units and is ideal for anyone who has a varied role in the hospitality industry — for example staff working in small hotels, restaurants or cafes whose role covers housekeeping, reception, food preparation and food/drink service.
Our Work Based Assessors regularly monitor progress, techniques and development through to the completion of the qualification. This allows apprentices to enhance their training on the job, helping them to become a valuable asset to their employers quickly – something which is essential in the hospitality industry.
