Art and Design UAL Level 2 Diploma SCQF Level 5

What is special about this course?

The University of Arts London (UAL) Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design is for students who have an interest in art and design and wish to explore this interest via a full-time, immersive learning experience. Students will explore the materials, methods and processes necessary to progress to further study and training in a range of art and design subjects.

Entry requirements

Applicants to both programs will be interviewed and will be expected to provide a portfolio of work to contain a minimum of 10 pieces showing a range of work. The interview forms an important part of the selection process.

3 National 4 passes, including English or other suitable alternative

or

Achievement of all units on an SCQF Level 4 course or equivalent. 

Applications are welcomed from mature students, or those who have left school and do not possess formal qualifications, but have the skills to meet the creative and academic demands of the course.

This course provides the perfect opportunity for school leavers or mature learners to get started in art and design, to explore and develop the skills, knowledge and understanding that support art and design activities.

The qualification structure will provide a sound base of skills and knowledge, will enhance self-confidence, and convey an understanding of the career demands and opportunities within art and design.

Subjects include:-

  • Introduction to materials, processes and technical skills in art and design
  • Solving creative problems
  • Introduction to drawing skills
  • Developing and producing a personal project in art and design

 

 

Equipment

If you are 18 and over and are eligible for a bursary, the cost of art supplies will be met through your bursary. If you are not eligible for a bursary, you will need to fund these items yourself.

    Fee information for FULL TIME Further Education courses

    If you have been living in the UK for at least 3 years, are ordinary resident in Scotland before the course start date it is likely that you will not have to pay fees for your full time course.  Please check our Fee Waiver Policy.

    What can I do on completion of my course?

    Progression onto Photography and Digital Arts, SCQF 6 

    Career routes include artist, designer, and museum assistant.
