Skillsbuilder 2 SCQF Level 2

What is special about this course?

This course is aimed at students with moderate learning difficulties. You will develop confidence by working together as a team to participate in a broad range of subjects. It provides an opportunity to develop individual abilities and interests. Subjects include food preparation, arts, leisure activities and social events.

The full-time course runs Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, while the part-time course takes place on Thursdays and Fridays.

A Learning Assistant is present in each session to support the learning needs of the students.

Teaching is student led and they are encouraged to self-reflect and identify areas you want to improve confidence in. With students at the centre, they determine the direction of their study.

Students may stay on this course for a maximum of three years.

Both Skillsbuilder 2 Full Time and Skillsbuilder 2 Part Time are delivered at SCQF Level 2.

"The classes are great, we do lots of different things. Being at college has given me lots more independence and it’s taught me to speak up for myself and ask for help if I need it – I never used to do that. I’m now being supported to get some work experience. I don’t think that would have been possible before. Coming here has given me so much more confidence. I love being here" - Amy Urquhart, Skillsbuilder 2 student

“It has been a delight to see students develop the skills, knowledge and ability to decide their long term goals, break them down into achievable steps and then pursue them with our full support, ” - Anne-Marie Harmsworth, lecturer, Skillsbuilder 2 Part Time.
